Word of Mouth

"The IPPL is a constant in our busy lives. What a great value for all of us."

"I love the library because it gave me my love of books! Now, you can't get my nose out of a book!"

"One patron said to a lady who was a first time visitor:  'This is the best library anywhere!'"

"Patron said she is originally from Russia and find this library 'amazing and beautiful.'"

"My daughter has gone through all the books we had checked out and begged me to come in today of all days (snow) to get another supply."

"High school student doing said  he 'comes here to do homework and wait for mom after school.  Today is late start at school (10am) so I’m taking advantage by doing some homework.  I find lots of great things to check out at this library.'”

"I come here so often that my grandchildren gave me this bag that says 'Mom’s Books' because I’m always picking up wonderful books and reading them to them at their house."

"Patron came into the library to bring valentines to her former story time teachers."

"Long time patron/frequent visitor said, 'every time she’s in there is something new and wonderful to see.'  I mentioned the redesign project and some of the new plans and suggested she check in on the director’s blog about the project.  She said, 'You all amaze me with what you can do at the library—I’ll be looking forward to what will be happening.''"

"First time patron was consoling her upset young daughter—she said 'I promise we will come back on Saturday, ok?'  Her daughter responded by saying 'Aww' sadly.  Mom told me this was the first time they had ever been to the library and her daughter was overwhelmed by how wonderful it is!"

"It is amazing you have so many books on hold.  There are more books on hold than on the shelf!"

"Phone call from gentleman, who lives in Chicago and was raised in ippl district, wanted to know if he could get a card here because our library is so much nicer than the city ones."

"Patron said she needs to bring a wheelbarrow to the library because she always finds so many things to check out."

"Patron loves audio books and was excited about our downloadable kiosk.  She downloaded from here and said that her husband had an iPod too and he could download from home."

"Patron was very happy to learn about Spanish for Dummies on Playaway.  'You mean I can just plug, play, and learn?' and I said 'yes'.'"

"Patron attended Excel class for the work place because while on a job interview was given an Excel test which was not as easy to do as the patron expected."

"The second important task for me when I moved to Willowbrook was to get an Indian Prairie library card. (The first task was update my license so I could get the library card!)"

"The library activities, the collection, the staff, and the convenient hours all enhance life in this community for all the residents."

"I moved from a pretty good library to a very good one.  Thank you."

"Libraries were 'green' before it was popular! What a great way to 'recycle' books, magazine, Dvds etc."

"So many ways to use our library. Love the rental shelf. Thank you!"

"I moved in the area couple years ago. I have a 14yr old girl and 7yr old boy. When we moved the biggest challenge was to get my kids adjusted and be involved in the community. The only place that I can think of was library! We use a lot of the programs that they offer. My daughter got a chance to show her leadership skills there and as a member of youth volunteer she got to share her opinions on a lot of programs. Now my son polishes his skills of chess in chess club every other Thursday! Library plays big part in our family and we love it!"

"Libraries are a great place to be!"

"My most fond memories of the Indian Prairie Library was some years ago when my grandson was little. We visited the library once a week, sat on the floor with the younger children books and took home an armful of every book about cats we could find. During that one particular year, we read each and every story about cats we could find. There were a couple we especially loved; those I found and bought for special gifts for him. I like to think we still share that special bond from the cat book treasures we located at the library."

"Sorry I am out of town today sliding on ice and snow but I am still connected to my library. On Christmas morning I checked out two books from the IP library. Thanks for helping me learn on the road!"

"Gosh, I can't imagine just how I'd get through a week without my library. It has been a place of salvation for me. I'm unemployed, and as you can imagine, on a budget. I live nearby and I visit quite often. It gives me an outlet on a regular basis. I come to get help with my job search, read magazines, research information, borrow music and movies, get training from time to time, an opportunity to connect with other people, hear lectures, and just get out of the house. It has really helped to stay on a positive note. I mean, there's only so much Jerry Springer one can watch!"
