Loan Periods

Material check-out periods are one, two or three weeks. Most materials may be renewed unless the item has been requested by someone else. Renewals may be requested by phone at 630/887-8760 or online by logging into your account. Indian Prairie cardholders may request a 6-week vacation loan on 3 week items. New items are identified on the item with a red sticker (adult) or blue sticker (kids & teens) and in the library catalog as "New" in the location area.

Items owned by the Indian Prairie Public Library may be checked out as follows:

• 21 Days: Most Books, New Non-Fiction, Music CDs, Audio books, Children's Kits, CD-ROMS, Play Aways, Encyclopedias
• 14 Days: New Fiction Books, New Music CDs, New Audio Books, Telvision Shows and Non-Fiction DVDs, Magazines, E-Readers, Kids & Teens Videos & DVDs, Leap Frog Pads & Books, Study Guides, Kreative Krates, Award Books
• 7 Days: Feature Film DVDs, Console Games, New YS DVDs, Assignment Books,

Fines & Fees

Fines are for:

Materials that are returned late starting with the first day after the due date and are counted for every day the library is open.

• 10 cents - per day for everything unless listed below:
• $1.00 - per day for Feature DVDs, Console Games, E-Readers, Leap Pad Readers, Kreative Krates, Play Away Views, & Kill A Watt Meter.

Fees are For:

• Rental Books (pay as you read) - the first two days are free, including the day of check out. After that, a fee of 25 cents per day is charged until the book is returned.
• Items ordered from out of state - $5.00 minimum charge (7/1/09)
• Returned Check - $15.00
• Lost Materials - Contact the library
• Damaged Materials - Contact the library
• Processing - A fee of $5.00 is charged for each replacement or lost item.

Paying for Fines or Fees:

• At the Library with cash, checks or credit card (Visa, Discover & MasterCard)
• Pay On-line with credit card (Visa, Discover, Master Card) by logging onto your account.
