Story Time Sign Up Social
Tuesday, Feb. 7, 9-11:00 a.m.
Story times teach the six pre-reading skills that help your child get ready to read. Classes will begin the week of Feb. 13 and run through Mar. 19. Register in person, then enjoy refreshments and play time. Phone and online registrations begin at 11 a.m. on Feb 7. Each child may be registered for only one story time per session. Child must be the appropriate age by Feb. 7, 2012.
Babies, Books and Songs
Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays at 9:30 beginning Tuesday, Feb. 14
For babies up to 24 months with an adult caregiver. No siblings please. IPPL card is required to register.
Walkers
Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Thursday, Feb. 16
For babies 13-24 months with an adult caregiver. No siblings please. IPPL card is required to register.
Terrific Twos
Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Feb. 14
For two year olds with an adult caregiver. No siblings please. IPPL card is required to register.
On Our Own Story Time
Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. or Wednesdays at 9:15 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Feb. 14
For children 3 years old and up. Adult caregivers must remain in the library. IPPL card is required to register.
All Ages Story Time
Mondays at 9:30 a.m. or Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Monday, Feb. 13
For children of all ages with an adult caregiver.
Family Story Time
Tuesdays at 6:45 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Feb. 14
For families with children of all ages with an adult caregiver.
Explore Time
Mondays, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
For three and four year olds with an adult. Children will learn the foundations of reading, social skills and creativity.
Reading Patch Club
Reading Patch Club began September 1!
Read during the school year to earn cool patches! It's easy. Sign up at the Kids & Teens Ask Us desk and get your reading logs. Choose a genre from the list and start reading! Once you've read 10 books in the genre you've selected, bring your log back to the library to collect your patch.
Patches: Adventure, animals, award winners, fantasy, graphic novels, horror, historical fiction, humor mystery, read to me, science fiction, sports.
You can sign up for the club at any time - the program runs through April 30, 2012 before it will take a break for summer. If you signed up last year, you can start a new genre or pick up where you left off last spring!
Illinois State Book Awards - As voted by you!
Complete the Illinois State Book Award Challenge for your grade! Read all 20 of the 2012 nominated books and turn in a list signed off by your parent/guardian by Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. Multiple copies of all titles are available in Youth Services. Children must attend a school in our district or have an IPPL card in order to participate in the IPPL State Awards Program. More information and copies of the guidelies are available at the Kids & Teens Ask Us Desk.
Monarch Reading Reward (Grades K-3)
Read all 20 of the 2012 Monarch Award Nominees to receive a certificate of completion and a sheet of Monarch stickers.
Bluestem Reading Reward (Grades 3-5)
Read all 20 of the 2012 Bluestem Award Nominees to receive a certificate of completion.
Caudill Challenge (Grades 4-8)
Read all 20* of the 2012 Caudill Award Nominees. Completers will be invited to join us for a pizza/book talk celebration in May 2012. *If needed, an alternate title can be read. Please speak with a Kids & Teens staff member.
