Interlibrary Loan Page

 

The Indian Prairie Public Library is seeking a part-time Interlibrary Loan Page. If you love working with people consider joining our team. Job duties include retrieve items on daily list from the shelves, check in the RAILS van delivery, assist with regular check in and rough sort, sort and route RAILS delivery, and check shelves for claim returns.

The library is looking for people with enthusiasm and ideas. We offer a dynamic, engaging team environment that values initiative and each individual. Applicants must have a commitment to excellent customer service, a friendly manner and a sense of humor. Other requirements include:

• Ability to arrange in alphabetical and numerical order (test required).
• Ability to learn check-in procedures.
• Must be able to accurately retrieve items from the shelves, check in, trap holds and route to the appropriate destination.
• Ability to move loaded book carts and bins and to lift and shelve library materials.
• Practical knowledge of computers.
• Must have excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with public and staff in English, both oral and written.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

This position is a part-time, year round position averaging 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:45 a.m. – 11:45a.m. The salary is $9.59 per hour. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

Youth Services Page

 

The Indian Prairie Public Library is seeking a part-time Youth Services Page. Job duties include sorting and shelving material, assisting patrons, and helping Youth Services staff with special projects.

The library is looking for people with enthusiasm and ideas. We offer a dynamic, engaging team environment that values initiative and each individual. Applicants must have a commitment to excellent customer service, a friendly manner and a sense of humor. Other requirements include: 

  • Ability to arrange items in alphabetical and numerical order (test required).
  • Practical knowledge of computers.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work accurately in a changing environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to move loaded book carts and to lift and shelve library materials as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or stoop for long periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with public and staff in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently

This position averages 12 hours per week including days, evenings, and rotating weekend hours. The salary is $10.13 per hour.  Applicant must have completed two years of high school.
